Are you a First-Generation College Student?

A first-generation college student is either a student whose parent(s) or guardian did not complete a four-year degree, or a student who resided in a home up to the age of 18 where no adult figure received a four-year college degree. Who Are We?

The First-Gen Advisory Committee is comprised of faculty, staff, and students who are invested in continually improving the experience of First-Generation College Students at Truman. Many members of the committee themselves are First-Generation College Students, and all committee members are supportive of First-Gen Students at Truman.

McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program is a research and graduate school preparatory program that receives support and funding from the U.S. Department of Education. While the program provides some financial assistance, its primary aim is to provide support, mentorship, and resources to students from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
